What is Core Philosophy?

Core Philosophy was a workshop I was asked to develop years ago when I was working for the NHS. A manager of mine said ‘Di, you know about health and fitness, can you develop a programme to help educate others?’ So I did just that and Core Philosophy was born.

I was always intrigued by the inner workings of the brain. From an early age, when I was not somersaulting around as a gymnast, I would pick up copies of my father’s New Scientist magazines and head straight for anything on the Human Being and its development.

Anthropology and the workings of the mind always drew my attention. I was about 9 years old when I announced to my father that one day I would study this area in order to know more about the human mind and the ‘human condition’ (i.e. all of the characteristics and key events that compose the essentials of human existence, including birth, growth, emotion, aspiration, conflict, and mortality).

We often think of fitness and health as being unrelated to the inner workings of the mind. We see it as being about moving more and eating less!

This is a gross understatement of the genius that is the human body and mind. The two are inextricably linked and cannot be neatly separated into two distinct entities.

I studied movement through dance, choreography and fitness. This gave me a great understanding of how the human body moves. I then studied the mind through qualifying as a psychotherapist. Studying both the body and the mind, rather than just one or the other, has given me even greater insight into how to help others live a more fulfilled, enriched, healthy and happy life.

Despite there being a lot of information out there about health and fitness, and even more since I first wrote this programme, we seem to be continuing to lose our way as human beings.

The Core Philosophy workshop is designed to help you understand your mental and physical health on a deeper level so that you can make lasting changes for a better life and wellbeing in the long-term.

Having a Core Philosophy for yourself mentally, emotionally, physically and in an inspirational way is vital for living a happy and fulfilled life. It’s worth the re-investment in yourself as it is only from here can you truly affect change in the world around you whether this is at work, or play. You’re worth investing in, and that’s down to you.

The workshop will be coming to you in-person and online over the coming year.
